A two-phase project to transform the lives of homeless individuals in Merced County

Merced County Rescue Mission (MCRM) serves homeless individuals and people in need with the vision of feeding, housing, and transforming them through the power of Jesus Christ.


MCRM has embarked on developing a new respite care campus, Village of Hope. It is part of a coordinated multi-phase effort among the City of Merced, the County of Merced, and the State of California to address homelessness issues. The Village of Hope campus is being constructed in two phases. NMTC financing is supporting the construction of phase I, which includes three buildings.

Building 1

  • 10,000 square foot Respite Care facility
  • Housing for 32 homeless residents
  • Medical exam room
  • Office space
  • Conference room
  • Semi-private rooms with shared bathrooms
  • Commercial kitchen
  • Dining room to accommodate up to 100 people
  • Client lounge area
  • Two sobering rooms with a total of eight beds

Building 2

  • 10-unit
  • 7,121 square-foot apartment building
  • Housing homeless veterans
